The E32 BMW 750iL was BMW's flagship luxury sedan from 30 years ago -- and it was the first V12-powered luxury sedan in this segment. Today I'm reviewing the 750iL, and I'm going to show you all the quirks and features of a special BMW luxury sedan -- then I'm going to drive the 750iL and review the BMW 750iL driving experience.

Try 1987 - these came out in 87 as an 88 model in the US and my old man popped for the first one in town. I didn't see you take it on the freeway in this video which is a shame because that's where the V12 really could be felt. You have to remember, in 88 there were very few cars toting 300hp under the hood, let alone a big comfy sedan (which is about the size of a new 5 series now). He had a K-40 radar detector installed (I believe with front and rear mounted sensors?) with the display neatly mounted inside the ash tray. You missed the one-touch operated power sunroof, power rear seats, and rear sunshade. He had the BMW phone which was hands-free via a tiny mic mounted to the left of the drivers sun visor (another first?) and came in handy on the way to see, The Golden Child, opening night when my friend forgot to call his parents to tell them we were going to a movie. I was too young to ever drive it proper but according to him (a man who had owned a 928S, 930 turbo, 911's, XJ sedan, 560SEC previous to it) it was pretty damn fast once you where on the highway. Lots of fond memories for me in that car.

The list at the other side of the phone is not for writing down the numbers, but for specifying which numbers you have preset on the phone; i.e. you preset numbers and you don't have to remember them, just dial by choosing 1-10.

You said no luxury car maker could get away with a gear lever of that shape today.... the Audi RS5/6/7 has that exact same shape. Obviously not as big bulky and ugly. But fundamentally the same shape haha

The "S" on the windshield whiper stock means "Scheinwerferreingungsanlage" which translates to headlamp cleaning system. It sprays washer fluid on the head lamps and the windscreen simultaneously.

The rear seat belt is arranged that way because it restrains the passengers better, allegedly the head does not knock on the vehicle side on a side impact. That is all to it, no Taxi myth, no first responder myth.

DasPolarlichtlein Πριν 22 ώρες
@John *_where did you hear this fairy tale ?_* _decades ago in germany a toll was planned, but was never introduced. today there is a toll only for trucks, which is billed via electronic devices on the autobahn. consequently in germany there are no toll booths with barriers where coins are thrown into payment machines. educate yourself. or learn to search on google._ edit: but yes...that is space for coins. back then there were parking meters (one thing for every spot) with coin slots and dials to operate the device. today you put money in one machine and a bill is printed, which you have to put behind your windscreen. the most modern version is an app on your mobile. you scan the code, set the time, get your bill printed, and place it behind the windscreen.

Bosch didn't make a V12 Motronic ECU in 1987, so BMW used two fully separate 6-cylinder engine control systems for this engine. There are 2 fuel pumps, 2 distributors, 2 ECMs, etc. You can run the engine and drive around on the right or left bank only, which is sometimes useful for diagnostic trouble-shooting.

Those wheels are made in Italy. They are the EXACT same wheels that are fitted to The 95 MERC, but mine have Mercury Hubcaps. Those wheels were fitted to early-90s Crown Vics, Grand Marquis , and Town Cars. I took 'em off of a '92 Crown Vic, and fitted used Mercury caps -- I like the looks of the classic-style pattern that I call "Italian Lace". Getting hard to find quality tires for the 15-inchers -- may have to go to 17s.

Apparently the rear seat belts were designed that way to priorise stopping lateral movement in a side impact, so rear occupants would not clash heads. I have so much of this exact same stuff as options in one of my 540i E34s (the cheaper baby brother to the E32). I love it all, especially the first aid kit under the front seat that was "Made in West Germany". Along with the more modern V8/5 speed in the lighter E34, it is a classic car that is far more liveable than other 30 year old cars, it is fantastically cheap as its the under the radar consumable alternative to these classics, but the high build quality means a lot of the stuff lasts if its kept clean. Modern suspension really helps wake these up (the body roll on worn stock suspension is especially horrible)

Some comments: The rear seat buckles are in thr oppsite side due to the rear seat passengers shouldn´t collide the heads in an accident. Info from the brouchure I had back in the days. The V12 produces 300 hp, at least here in Europe. As you said, Mercedes was wayyy later with the V12, the needed something that was special... Mercedes V12 produced 300 kW (instead of hp) that equals to 408 hp. But only some years later du to emission rules down to 397 hp, but 292 kW wasn´t that cool.... :D Thank you for this review of my "Traumwagen" (dream car) of the 80´s and early 90´s!!!!

My first car was an E32 735IL. Still one of my favorite cars and it's still on the road today. BMW doesn't make them like they used to. You can really tell the difference between an 80's BMW and a mid 2000's BMW. On the shift mode selector mine had an S button that you could get to by pushing the whole slider down. I think the E was for Economy because that was the standard mode every time you started the car. Mine had a quirk where the BC would go into German every couple starts.

Pretty sure the auto dimmer is just don't have to position the slider under the word "Auto" Doug. The word "Auto" just lets you know the mirror has an auto dimmer. You slide the leaver to the position you want and the auto dimmer feature dims the mirror based on where you have positioned the slider.

This is a message from the resistance, YOU ARE BEING LIED TO by Internationalist organisations and national government agencies under their influence, The "Pandemic" is a lie there is no danger to you or your family , it is a staged excuse to take away your Freedoms and Democracy under the guise of a health emergency, this is being staged by those who control the money supply worldwide, the central bankers , through their leverage of money they can bribe threaten and force high officials in governments to do their will , if that doesn't work then they can organise a Dealy plaza or Fords theater , The object of this fake pandemic is to create fear in the minds of the public to scare you into doing what they want which is (A) accept their poison vaccine , (B) give up all of your freedoms at a time until you have none left, and (C) Eventually become part of an Empire which Watches from afar and awaits the conversion of humanity into slaves , YOU OWE IT TO FUTURE GENERATIONS to preserve freedom for them ,for once lost it will be almost impossible to regain , wake up now and start asking WHY they are banning Doctors and Virologists world wide from asking questions ,this should be a major red light to any thinking person who has even a shred of intellectual independence left , - - Message End

BMW of earlier years (not sure about modern ones) had an extra reservoir with a special cleaning fluid in the engine bay which was activated by the S function ( I had it in an old 5 series). It was more aggressive, so no need to use it all the time e.g. in rainy weather. But if you had a long journey on the Autobahn with a lot of dead bugs on the windscreen it came in handy... I guess that is also the case here.
